Jayasuriya knows how to approach his targets
Sanath Jayasuriya's life on the 22-yard is full of aggression but few people know that while marrying his lady love, the giant-slayer had to bear abuses but chose to stay calm and win over his in-laws. Sri Lanka's cricket star, Jayasuriya, faced marriage obstacles on his being dark complexioned and fears of his children being born black, says his wife Sandra. "You will get a black party. All your children will be pitch dark like him. I would feel like throwing them out of our boundary," Sandra's mother had said on knowing his daughters marriage interest in the dashing Sri Lankan batsmen. Jayasuriya, himself merciless in dispatching the bowlers to the boundary, approached his target carefully, and won the consent of her family, his wife told the Sunday Observer in an interview published today. Sandra said her father was a great fan of Jayasuriya until he heard of his daughters affair with the superstar and then transformed into an irritated opponent of the star opening batsman. "Sanath knows how to approach his targets. He makes you feel secured in his hand. He somehow won the consent of my family as well," Sandra, a former air hostess said.
