SLC Nominate Sri Lanka Umpires to ICC Elite Panel

Sri Lanka Cricket has decided to nominate Ranmore Martinesz, Tyron Wijewardene and Ruchira Palliyaguruge to the International Cricket Council (ICC) panel of umpires based on their performance during the past year.

Martinesz and Wijewardene are to be nominated as on-field umpires and Palliyaguruge as an third umpire to the ICC. All three umpires have played first-class cricket.

In selecting these umpires the SLC Umpires Selection Panel picked Martinesz for his consistent performances during the season, plus his communication skills and good performances at international level. Martinesz has officiated in seven ODIs and 7 T20 Internationals.

Wijewardene had shown vast improvement at domestic level and had performed consistently during the season. His fitness and communications skills were also taken into consideration. Wijewardene has officiated in four Tests, 49 ODIs and 6 T20 Internationals.

Farewell for veteran umpire Asoka de Silva

Former Elite Panel umpire Asoka de Silva is to be given a farewell by Sri Lanka Cricket, Umpire Asoka de Silva umpired 49 Test matches, 122 One Day Internationals and 11 Twenty20 International matches so far.

According to the source Asoka de Silva did not participated for grade examinations of local umpires and failed to obtain relevant rankings to proceed.
