The Sri Lanka Premier League kicks off on August 10. © SLPLSri Lanka have approached several players from New Zealand to take part in the upcoming Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL) but none of their star Test players will be available.

The SLPL auction will be held from July 5 to 6, with contracts valued at $20,000 to $30,000.

Both New Zealand and India are scheduled to play a Test series at the end of August, which has resulted in all of the Black Caps' top players being unavailable.

Sri Lankan fans will not see the likes of Brendon McCullum, Daniel Vettori and Ross Taylor who have featured prominently in India's IPL tournament.

Earlier, it was reported that India's players too would be unavailable for the IPL-style tournament in Sri Lanka.

The inaugural SLPL gets underway on August 10.
