    As an offie you are supposed to bowl from as high as you can.

    I think this is a lame excuse. Why did he play v Eng in the test series then?

    Surely you are not going to play someone you think is not right in the test side.

    This is just a nice way to ruin the career of a promising kid. He should clearly be in the ODi and 2020 set up
    well ur supposed to pivot on your right toe but randiv has never been that kind of side on bowler. he's always been very front on.

    The key to picking a spinner should be his ability to extract turn on any given wicket. Besides Herath, what we have seen so far after Murali retired, unable to do just that.

    Here are my observations of each spinner that we have tried and tested so far;

    (1) Randiv - Randiv came to the scene while Murali was around and performed really well. I remember in the 2010 Asia Cup played in SL, he was picked ahead of Murali. Indians struggled to play him. However, since then his length has not been threatning to the batsmen with many over pitched deliveries bowled. He does not turn the ball enough either. This is the reason he went mostly wicketless in the 2nd test against England while thanks to the Galle pitch, he managed to grab some wickets. Look at Swann - how good he turns the ball and the way he picks the correct line and length to trouble batsmen. At one stage, our Samare had to step out of the crease to counter Swann, and got stumped! Randiv must be able to bowl like Swann if he is to be any good at international level!
    i'm no expert on spin bowling but i always felt the difference between the two guys was the drift and flight that swann has.

    Yep but I think the slc issue is with his release point. Which should traditionally be as high as possible.

    Hence it being an odd comment to make from slc

    That and the fact that he can get the ball to drop via his flight. Murali at his peak was brilliant at that

    Swanns drift is key

    The reason why Weerakkon was selected is cos according to SLC Pakistan are always troubled by left arm spin and Weerakoon is the best after Herath

    Randiv has been quite flat fro sometime now
