Default The beginning of the end of Chaminda Vaas?

    http://sify.com/sports/fullstory.php?id=14724522

Sadly guys the article above has made me think this test series is the beginning of the end of Vaas' career. I was watching the 1st test match, and it was clear that Mehala was reluctant to bowl Vaas. Hell even Kulasekera got the nod ahead of him in certain spells.

This whole 'rest' thing is bull. Mahela and the selectors want to indirectly send a message to Vaas that his days are numbered now. I mean why the hell would Vaas need a rest after only bowling 10 overs in the 1st test? Sometimes, I really don't like the way Mahela treats senior players. Captaincy has made him big-headed imo.

    From Cricinfo:

Murali praised Mendis's efforts and said the younger bowler had more variation than he had when he started out. "[Chaminda] Vaas was a wonderful bowler," said Murali. "He did the same thing like what Mendis did today by keeping the runs down and taking wickets. We both have taken more than 1000 wickets in Test cricket and more than 900 wickets in ODIs. I think Mendis will be another bowler who will strengthen the bowling. He is not just another ordinary bowler."

Notice how Murali keeps saying Vaas 'was' a great bowler and not Vaas 'is' a great bowler. I really think the senior players are slowly trying to force Vaas out of the team!

hmm well in a year or so it'll b the time 4 chaminda 2 sadly make the choice or not as hes 34 years old nd we hav plenty of upcoming talents who all need a go in the main X1, nd all vaasy is doing is getting in their way,
nd the main thing is, is that hes not making such a big impact in matches anymore as his pace has dropped, just like everything else, nd this is where hes different 2 murali who is still making a huge impact bowling in tandem wit ajantha

I think Vaas's glory are days slowly getting over...
ANd there is nothing wrong with letting him go and bring some young blood in to the team.. what is wrong with it..? if Vass can't deliver.. thats it.. we don't need to keep him to bcos he is a senior...

If Mahela tries to axe Murali, then THAT'S wrong.. bcos Murali STILL delivers....

if vass is dropped they will ask mahela to be replaced with sanga & all the other crap... i think vass should retire from one form of the game & continue on one he still can do better

I think that Vaas can still deliver. I mean what do you expect him to do when the pitches are so flat? Even if the wicket offers a bit of movement, Vaas will get wickets. Yes he has lost pace, but he has made up for it with experience, guile etc.

everyone knows that there is a dispute between mahela and vaas, sanath .
but sanath gave a ass kick by scoring 125 in asia cup finals. I dont think vaas can do it here since he is just a bowler who cant do any thing with these flat pitches and we have two good spinners as well.

    hallow
Batista u r correct Mahela and Vaas is having dispute, and Mahela and Sanath also having dispute , lets not be fooled by Mahelas denials,

but if ball is swinging, Vaas can still be dangerous, however I wud put our pace bowlers for Test matches in this order

L Malinga, C Wela, I Amera, D Fernando, D PRasad, F Maharoof, T THushara, C Vaas, Sujeeva Silva, Nuwan Kulasekera

and since D PRasad and T THushara are in the squad, tey shud be selected , please note tis is a test match team, and i picked bowlers in terms of wicket taking ability
