Arnold has shown so much promise in his career, and he's such a productive usefull batsmen. I think he should be given another shot, he's batting style is very elegant, and he reminds me of Hussey. He's very promising . . .

No i dnt think he has a place in the current team..his form and his strike rate has dropped in the recent years and at the moment there are better players to take his place like Kapugedera..Also when Marvan comes bach Arnold will not have a place in da team at all..I know we musn't forget wut he has done for the team all these years , but at da moment i dnt think he deserves place.
yup i don't think so , cuz we gotta good pool of players for now
if jehan mubarak can get so many chances then i think arnold deserves it he is mently very strong player i think he is good enough to make a come back
in both forms of the game

lol.. good one, pinned
Come back in the place of who? I dont think he can or he needs to replace any of the current players in the team at the moment.
Is it prudent to drop one player in the squad and include Arnold? And if so, how fair is it by the other player who is being dropped to give way to Arnold? True that Arnold has always performed when he was given the chance and he got a raw deal most of the time and I feel sorry for his fate. But I think the current set of players who have come in to the team are young and got more flare in their batting and have a long way to go. Most of them are more technically correct batsmen than Arnold (e.g - Kapugedara). Hence why drop one of them?
As for the argument about giving Arnold chances like they gave to Mubarak. I think it was a mistake on the part of the authorities to give Mubarak so many chances when he didnt perform upto expectations. They did a big mistake and I hope they have learnt a lesson from it now. Just bcoz Mubarak got so many chances doesnt mean they have to repeat the same mistake with other players as well to show that their policies are consistent. I am not putting Arnold on the same level with Mubarak. Just that I dont think Arnold needs to be in the team at the moment. If they did a mistake with Muba, then they should learn a lesson from it and move on and not repeat the same mistake.
Feel free to disagree with me. I am ok with arguments to the contrary

but i think in chamions trophy and world cup you need players who are meantly very strong
and in such big matches you need players like arnold who have expierence and he can bowl as well i would rather choose arnold than a newcommer
i can be wrong because i don't know much about sri lankan cricket because i am a pakistani

Yes agree with u that experience plays a key role to a certain extent and that Arnold's off spin will help on the slow turning Indian pitches. But I still dont like the idea of dropping one of the yound guys bcoz they have performed admirably well in the past and are just beginning to mature. Champion's trophy is not so much the goal here but the WC next yr. Think if we let them play continuously in all the tournaments till then, they can get some more experience and learn form their mistakes b4 the WC
I think Russels time is over now.
He did excellent service for srilankan National side with his middle order batting and with some fantastic close in fielding.
But there are too many inform youngsters in the squad. So it will very tuff for him to get back the place.
