    How does the voting work?

Each game will kick off at
    10pm Australia Eastern Standard time.
    9pm Japan Standard Time
    5.30 pm Sri Lanka Time
    1pm UK Time
8am NY Time (which I think is the same timezone for CA)
    5am California Time.

Each game will run for 24 hours to allow for every player to vote. When the 24 hours expire the votes are tallied regarless of whether everyone has voted or not. (We need to keep the game moving.)

    Making your case (Optional)
The manager of the team is given a 1 time opportunity to make the case for his side. This is a chance to highlight your teams strengths and weaknesses and to argue why you should win in that particular battle. Please keep this short. Under 500 words. This is an optional part of the game. But we insist that you post your argument prior to the start of your particular game, ie before voting commences so people can assess your team better. There is no penalty for not posting an argument. It is simply up to you. But we encourage you to do this as it might be another good learning experience for all.

Note: Since you have 12 players, You may post a different combo for each game as your team. However, the final XI posted must meet the decade rule

    Voting restrictions
The two contensting managers cannot vote. The rest of the 15 players has to vote + the votes of the 3 judges. The judges will vote last.

    The Judges are
    rsk19
    Jamisbanda
    ApoCrypto

Note to voters: Pls try to be as fair as possible in your votes. There were a lot of discussion between the judges about trying to avoid vote rigging and manupilation. In the end we made the call to trust everyone. Everyone has invested a lot of time into this so it would be unfair to all your mates here to rig votes or try to manipulate the game.

When you vote please assess all criteria listed above and you MUST state your reasons for your vote so that we can see why you have voted the way you did. We insist that you do this.

I really do not want to get involved with this as I am now a contestant.

I am happy with whatever the judges decide.

Dilz, the judges have conferred and we regret that we are unable to accede to this request to postpone the match. The match schedule was posted well in advance, and other matches have gone ahead even though their managers were unable to be online in order to defend their teams at the time.

Please feel free to post an analysis of your team whenever you are able to. It need not be an essay. Those of us who haven't voted by then will certainly take your points into consideration.

This decision is final - the match will go ahead.

    My team

Straight off the bat, I’ve made a tactical change to the first XI, with Alderman coming in ahead of Gibbs. Hopefully I can make the case for his inclusion and you guys will appreciate why I made the change once you finish reading this. I won’t go too much into detailing records as hopefully the table above explains it. Instead I will explain some of the decisions I’ve made in picks and positioning which hopefully shows why this side will trounce Dilz’s.

    Batting
Amiss - A supreme player of fast bowling. He has played against the best of the best quicks in Holding and Roberts and come out with an eye popping average of 70 against WI overall. He was renowned for his stroke play and was extremely hard to dismiss when set. Of Amis’s 11 Test hundreds, eight exceeded 150, a higher proportion even than that of Don Bradman.

It would be hard to fathom an attack of Botham, Snow and Lindwall would really trouble him.

Woodfull - The perfectly complementary player to Amiss aggressive nature. Woodfull was a dogged man with a staunch defence. In the Bodyline series, after struggling initially he scored a three of the hardest fought half centuries. This man had balls.

Compton - His record speaks for it self. But it his style of play that makes him an ideal no3. He could play all the strokes, What made him special was his audacity: he took risks to put the bowlers off their game. Highly valuable as a number 3. If Viv had the flair. Denis was regal. I am playing Compton ahead of his favoured no4 spot for England. But in this team there is no one better equipped for the no3 role. Hence he gets the nod.

Abbas - Zaheer plays one of the most important roles in the batting in holding away the spinners. His record was the Indian spin quartet is undeniable (Avg of 87). He adds the depth to a batting line up that Dilz team clearly lacks. Dilzs two spinners, who he is clearly banking on , are easily nullified with Abbas. Abbas was equally skilled vs the quicks so it is around him the batting will eventually revolve.

Hussey - I think is is one of the players that tip the scale in my fav in this game. Hussey is versatile and adaptable. Unflustered against all forms - pace/swing and skilled at spin. He can hold the side together if there is a collapse. He can push the advantage if there is a good start and he can go for quick runs when needed. Arguably the best no5 in the game since SR Waugh retired. Dilz lacks this type of batter in his line up. Inzy was good but I don’t think he is in the same class as Hussey.

    Walters
    - 2nd player who tilts the scales in my fav.. Coming in at 6, Walters has the ability to change the game with bat, ball or in the field. He has reeled off a hundred in a session no less than 3 times. But he can also shut up shop and hold the side if there is early trouble. A game changer. To have a batsmen who avg 48 this low down is gold.

Goddard – A surprise pick for many I think. An unsung all-rounder who averages better with the ball and bat when compared to Botham – although the quantity of runs and wickets might be less.. Another left hander who will further add dimension to the batting. He played for SA as an Opener but with Amiss and Woodfull opening, Goddard will line up as the front for the lower middle order. I expect he will face the 3rd new ball anyways, if you catch my drift.

PJ - Picked over Healy for his batting ability against spinners. Do not forget that PJ has scored 100s v Swann and Ajmal in the space of a year. The two best spinners in the current game. His crucial 60 odd v Eng in Galle this year saved SL. He already has 4 hundreds to his name which matches Healys over a 100+ test career.

Warne – Also handy with the bat. 3000+ test runs and some crucial innings for Aus. You can always count on Warne to hang in there.

    Holding
    – Also no mug, 6 50s in test cricket tells its own tale. My batting is supremely deep.

    Bowlers
Holding - He will be the out and out quick with his menace and accuracy. He also has the wood on Botham, which I think is crucial since Dilz’s batting is short and will rely on Sir Ian a lot.

Alderman - Perfect foil for Holdings aggression and will combine for a severe test of any batsmen skill against pace and movement.. Renowned for his unrelenting line and length and genuine swing. How do you find a weakness in a player like Viv ? I guess you don’t really. But as with any batsmen he struggled a little early (known fact) and Alderman nipped him out 4 times early in his innings.

Also interesting note that Holding and Alderman have combined to pick up Botham a total of 9 times. I think that will be telling as Dilz will rely on his all rounders batting more than my side.[/B]

Warne - Arguably the best spinner and leg spinner of all time. Crucially he will target Hammonds weakness vs Spin. Of the bowlers who picked up Hammond, the top 4 include 3 spinners (O’ Reilly, Grimmet, Cyril Vincent – all who took the ball away from the right handed Hammond, so its safe to say he had a little issue there). Warne is the perfect guy to exploit this vulnerability

Goddard - Adds the variation with left arm swing and seam and will act as a holding bowler who can pick up wickets in his own right.

Walters - Can be brought on at any time to pick up a crucial wicket. A test avg of 29 doesn’t lie.

Hussey - A trundler also with a golden arm

Compton - 622 First Class wickets with his Chinaman. Hammond will crumble.

    Keeper
PJ - Granted Healy is the better keeper. And PJs form has dropped a little But he is still a safe keeper and in the top 3 in the world at the moment. Having kept to Murali, Warne shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

    Captain
Warne - I will probably lose some votes for this decision but I don’t think there is anyone better in my 12 to lead this side. Warne is widely regarded as the best test captain Aus never had. And I think he is the perfect guy to lead this team.

Ultra aggressive, great man manager, Handles pressure superbly, can inspire others to be better, a team man, will go for the win at all cost.
Leading the Royals in the first IPL to a win is stuff of legend. Even if it doesnt mean much it underlines Warnes captaincy credentials in managing a rag tag team to form a winning combination.

I think my team goes in to this game as slight underdogs – a fact that many of you stated prior to the comp – which I think will also suit Warnes style of leadership. Regardless of whether I lose votes. I will back Warne to the hilt.

Support, Goddard (Ex SA captain - shdrewd and tactically intelligent), Woodfull (ex Aus captain. Adds the diplomacy bit), Abbas (ex Pak captain), Hussey (One of the smartest guys to ever play cricket)

    Fielding
Slips – Warne (safe as houses), Hussey (best gully in the world), Walters (top class fielder)

Circle - Gibbs, Walters Abbas, Amiss

Deep - Holding - Supreme athlete

In Summary, although Dilz might have the team with bigger names, I believe my side is the more complete side. My batting is deep, versatile and adaptable. It is equally skilled against pace and spin.

My bowling is led by two of the greatest bowlers of all time. And is ably supported by 2 highly skilled swing bowlers who complement each other perfectly and balances the bowling unit to a tee. Each of them have a specific role and are uniquely placed in the team to target weaknesses in the opposition batting which I've highlighted before. Then there are a few part timers who are more than capable of making crucial breakthroughs.

It is littered with players who can change the game in the space of a spell or a session. My fielding unit is very tight and is led by a very aggressive and tactically astute captain. I know this side can beat Dilz's star line up on any given day. I hope you guys feel the same.
