Thread: Is Bent Worth Than Henry

Spurs have just paid more to buy Darren Bent than Barcelona parted with to sign Thierry Henry.

Bent - above average striker who has made no impact at international level with England - £16.5m

Henry - world superstar and one of the finest talents of the modern era - £16.1m.

Seems like a waste of money when you look at it like that but think of it another way. Maybe a player like Bent would be out of depth in the Spanish or Italian leagues but they think that he is a good investment for a PL side (he scored 14 goals last season for Charlton, which doesn't seem that brilliant!). There's so much money to be made for a club in the Premiere that 16m is just a drop in the ocean. If he can knock in 15 goals and put Spurs in the UEFA zone then that's a good investment compared to the millions that the club can make from TV rights.

I'm really confused! Either Tottenham have too much money in their possession or they have some serious future plans regarding the kiddo. However I think the age factor played a big role here..

Im a spurs fan and was shocked about the money we spent on bent. We have 4 class strikers next season now. Apprantly since jol took over only chelsea have spend more money than spurs. This is a lot to do with the chairrman leavy and the company which he owns or something or head of. Apprantly leavy wants to buy 100%shares of spurs and made an official bid for it.
