ICC increases 2011 World Cup prize money to 4 mln dollars

The 2011 cricket World Cup winning team would be taking home a prize money of four million dollars, with the International Cricket Council (ICC) deciding to double the total allocation for the coveted tournament to 10 million dollars.

The decision was taken during the ICC's executive board meeting, which was held in Dubai on Monday, The News reports.

During the 2007 World Cup, winners Australia pocketed 2.24 million dollars, and the runners-up Sri Lanka received one million dollars.

In 2003, when India played Australia in the final, the winning Aussie team took home two million dollars in prize money, and the team India was awarded 800,000 dollars. (ANI)

Huge amount of price.Really worthy for battle.I think srilanka has a very good chance to win the title.They have malinga to check their slog overs.

Even if we assume there is a 30 men squad, the winners get 1M each, while in ICC WC a 20 men squad will get 200,000 each. LOL.

SL got a good chance to follow-on from being runners-up in 2007.

as much as i hate to say it, you cant discount england either although im hoping the longer version of the game will give the eng team more time to implode out in the middle as thier prone to!
