    Default Sri Lanka Cricket fans; I need your help....

    Dear Fans of Sri Lanka Cricket;

    I am writing this post to Sri Lanka's die-heart fans, only.

    My intention here is not to waste my time and argue with folks who are happy that Aussies won the World Cup.

    Even at this late stage, I am trying to find ways, means, facts, arguments, laws and people to get support for my effort to FORCE the ICC to either get Australia to share this WC with Sri Lanka or stripped Australia out of it and hand it over to SL.

    I don't care how ridiculous my wishes and effort may sound like to those who don't want to support me, they may kindly choose to ignore this post. However, those who want to support my efforts please do care to join me with your opinions.

    I am specifically looking for responses from those who "do not want to wait" till another WC, but to seek justice and fair play for our team in the WC that already took place on April 28th, 2007 in Barbados.

    So, please think carefully and respond to this post, preferably with your own arguments. If you have made an argument already else where, please point me to it (with its link).

    Following are the two cases in question that I want you to pick from;

    (1)If we made a case out of Gilchrist having the Squash ball, do you think we can win it?

    Some of the points were gathered from this forum.

    Following are my findings so far;
    It is more like when Ben Johnson (Canadian 100m winner in Olympics) was caught taking high performance drugs, the Olympics committee stripped the gold medal from him and handed over to Carl Lewis, the runner who won the silver medal.

    I don't see any difference between taking high performance drugs and using unnatural means to increase the performance of a player.

    Are the following statements valid? if so, does SLC has a case against Adam Gilchrist?

    * When you have a tough rubber inside your glove the bat acts like a spring and it changes and improves the momentum of the ball.

    * In physics it is called Buoyancy. The re-enforced rubber gives you that extra upward Buoyancy!!!

    *If you are not allowed to ball with any tapes or plasters in your fingers. I don’t think you should be allowed to have a squash ball in your gloves when batting.

    (2) Please refer to the thread I opened; "I didn't know ICC care to play cricket in the Dark!!!"

    link to it;

    Do you think we have a case here?
    Here, the case I am making is, when ICC had Sunday to continue the match with, they brought in D/L Par Score and disturbed Sanath and Mahela's rhythm. Which, in my opinion, is not fair for Sri Lanka.

    Now, I want you guys to tell me which one carries the strongest case out of these two; either (1) or (2).
    I wish, if you could direct me towards one of them, with some supporting facts and arguments.
    When I receive sufficient support, I will do more research in that area only, and compile a case to be presented to the ICC.
    Others may use the same responses to present their own case or join hands with me.

    Thank you for your support in advance.

    i think case number 1, as the onus would have been on mahela to address the reserve day, d/l, and bad light issues at the point it occurred. it would seem cowardly to address it retrospectively after the WC has been awarded to Aus.

    however, with point number 1, its information that we were unaware of at the time, and were only educated following the victory, which would hold a lot more gusto as a moot point, and since there's an obvious manipulation/skirting aorund the law, it would hold a lot more credibility.

    yes we lost, yes it wasnt fair but i wouldnt want to share it or win it by default.

    our guys did it our way.lost with dignity mahela's decision to playthe last 3 overs in darkness was keeping with the spirit of the game.

    what i would like for us do is to make a protest that would ensure this will not be repeated

    Shahiliya;
    Did you mean to say case number 2 in your first paragraph? Please clarify.

    Thanks.

    ya I think #1 is more strong and for #2 Speed himself apologize which means they made an error. Which they should be accountable for. Saying sorry when you are getting paid few million dollars to do what you do is just not acceptable.

    regardless of the outcome we should fight for this just like our heros faught in darkness
    we should atleast make our voice heard. So this WC will be written in history as the squash ball WC

    As much as I would not like to comment on this, I cant keep my opinion shut. Yeah true we lost the world cup through very very unfair circumstances... but striping someone off the title is a bit way out of proportion. dont you think? yes making a case about the squash ball is the best thing to bring up, as im sure the Aussies wouldnt rest if we had done something like that.

    What happened has happened, and its for the best. You would never know what would have gone on if Sri Lanka batted first, unfortunately we would never know, but the fact remains that we lost with dignity and TRUE sportsmenship.

    This case is a lost cause except bringing up the squash ball used to add more ummmph! to Gilchrists batting.

    Yes it was very unfair for us. Yes we were only a few centimetres close of taking the World Cup home. But in this case I choose to keep my head down and just accept the runners up place just like Mahela and the rest of our team did. We only lost the World Cup but we won the respect of the neutral fans all over the world, we made many friends and we are going back home with pride and dignity.

    Good luck with whatever you guys decide to do. And a pin to RD for your efforts.
