Default I'm suffering from serious computer viruses

Firstly my computer is running so slow and it's driving me crazy. I've got this virus that creates thousands of pos.tmp files and my computer just recently kept on turning off all of a sudden. I thought it was because my computer was over-heating but i'm starting to think that these viruses have some part in this. I didn't renew my Norton Antivirus subscription and it really bit my up my ass.

Anyway i tried to remove this virus called "win32" but my computer keeps shutting down in doing so. I'm pretty much screwed, god whenever i meet those f**king evil geeks that make viruses just for their leisure..... >

If anyone can help me, i would be estatic with many pins coming your way. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!

Dude, i feel your pain, I had the same problem and got it just fixed. I had Trend Micro but it wasn't working and when I fixed it I had to take out 63 threats. i was able to remove 2.23 GB of temp and junk files and repaired 2341 registry issues.

First thing, get Spybot S&D 1.5.1 and run it, download it here,
    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html

Then if you have a anti virus software installed (you should) make sure it's up to date, if not update it and then make sure everything is turned on such as the firewall. Then do a full system scan over night or something. If you don't have an anti virus software installed and don't want to pay for one just yet get AVG free version. It's one of the best free anti virus software.
    http://free.grisoft.com/

After you do that download Ccleaner, under tools menu using it's add or remove function remove all unused installed junk and programs. (Ccleaner add or remove function shows all the junk+ programs installed on your computer and it gives you and option to delete anything you want unlike control panel version)

and then under Registry menu check for any registry issues and fix them all. and then under Cleaner menu analyze windows and applications and run cleaner and clean everything up.

    get Ccleaner here,
    http://www.ccleaner.com/

Once you do that it should be in a pretty good shape (if the problem is viruses)

Go to My Computer, right click on the drive (main usually C go to properties, go to tools, click check now under "error checking" First check "Scan and attempt recovery of bad sectors" and then when it's done click on "Automatically fix file system errors" This will probably ask you to do it at the restart, if it does, click "yes" and restart the computer.

If the problems continue then you should check your memory and HD. You can do diagnostics for that under one time boot menu at the start but if you are still having problems let me know i'll let you know what CD's to boot your computer off and run diagnostic checks.

    good luck

man norton sucks balls. that thing is a massive resources hog. ive had trend micro for a few years now and never had any problems. if u dont like trend micro pick a different antivirus by reading some reviews on cnet. i seriosly recommend that u get sumthing other than norton.

for the moment u can get a free scan from trend micro website. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Thanks a lot kasun, i'm trying this right now. I used WinAso to fix my registry issues but it didn't help me at all. I have tried spybot before but the older versions were pretty useless. I haven't tried the lastest one yet though.

Trend Micro is far better than Norton.

But Kaspersky is probably the best overall.

    Here's a review,

    Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0

    Best antivirus software overall.
Reviewers say Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 is the best all-around antivirus program. It excels at its primary task of preventing viruses. Reviews agree that Kaspersky is better than the bestseller Norton AntiVirus 2008 in all aspects. Kaspersky is fast and light; it won't slow your computer as much as the bestsellers. According to users, Kaspersky has more software conflicts and issues than the average antivirus program. Yet program users express a much higher level of satisfaction with Kaspersky antivirus software than with Norton or McAfee programs.

Then comes ESET NOD32 3.0, AVG, Panda and then comes Norton.

Kaspersky is the fastest of all the major (good) anti virus software and people say it doesn't slow the your computer down in the process of scanning as much as the best sellers do,

Takes about 8 minutes to scan a 80GB hard drive.

Yeah i got rid of nearly a 1000 infected files and it definitely stopped the sudden crashes that occasionally occurs with AVG. But i'm trying to get rid of the gbs of temp files that's still on my comp. It's running noticably faster which is a great sign. I"m trying Ccleaner right now.

I haven't tried Kaskersky but i've learnt a lesson about purchasing anti-virus programs. AVG or Trend Micro is good enough for me.
